ELF Goes Hunting

Day 199, Year 550

I just got back from a clan meeting, followed by a frantic bout of
hunting in the Vermine Tree, Jade Noids, Savannah, and TGBG. It was a
good hunt, there’s not much more to say.

Day 198, Year 550

Today I got to take a peek at the new arachnoid cave which was recently
discovered in the Marsh, which is coming to be known as the “Jade
Noids”(no word yet on what Jade is making of all this). The entrance to
Jade Noids can be found near the Meshra Lair, and leads to a long
sloping tunnel which opens into to the main cavern.

The only inhabitants of the cave appear to be the Jade
arachnoids, which are much tougher than regular green noids, but
slightly weaker than Olive arachnoids. Rescues to the Jade Noids seemed
to be taking place non-stop all day, so if you haven’t had a chance to
visit the cave yet, it should be a cinch to tag along with a rescue
party.

Day 171, Year 550

Mai! It certainly has been a long time since I last wrote in my
journal. I’ve finished all of the exams required of me by my teachers,
but it seems that I still have a lot of work to do! Luckily, today I
got to take a break from my studies to attend my clan’s monthly
meeting.

The meeting today was pretty brief, and afterwards we all
decided to go hunting. Our first stop was Gerag’s old cave in East
Forest for some slime hunting. We were a little short on fighters, but
we still managed to hunt the slimes without too much trouble.

Afterwards, we headed to the ‘Noids cavern for some coin
hunting, where Vequalir’s mandible recovery skills really came in
handy. Our clan is currently saving up coins so we can all upgrade to
the new sunstones, and we made quite a few of them hunting in ‘Noids.

By the end of the hunt we had ammassed nearly 600 coins for our clan coffers! All in all, it was a successful hunt!

Day 56, Year 550

Today my clan went hunting in Melabrion’s Mines. The Mines were pretty
busy, and we had to be rescued on several occaisions, but it was good
fun nontheless.

Cimmbrion's Mazes
Cimmbrion’s Garden Maze

Today the Journeyman Abe asked me to aid him in an expedition to the
Ethereal Tower, and I happily agreed. The purpose of the expedition was
to get Abe to the 3rd Ethereal Amulet trainer. Our party was led by
Yor, and with his solid tactics we were able to reach the Ethereal
Tower in no time.

However, at a critical juncture in in our journey, I managed to
get separated from the rest of the party, and ended up in Cimmbrion’s
Garden Maze. Unfortunately, without me there to open the illusions, Abe
was unable to reach the 3rd Ether trainer.

Many apologies to Abe and to the rest of the party for
wandering off in the Ethereal Tower. I will be sure to follow Yor’s
instructions more closely next time.

Break From Studies

Day 42, Year 550

Whew! It’s been quite some time since I’ve last had the chance to write
in my journal. My studies have been really busy lately, and I’m
studying for a tough final exam from Master Spirtus. Hopefully I will
be able to pass and receive Master Spirtus’ reccomendation as one of
his better students.

Anyway, today I got to take a much needed respite from my
studies, stepping out of the library for the first time in weeks. While
I was strolling through town center, I came across a most unusual
sight: people lining up to get their sunstones tuned!

Sunstone Tuning
Lining up for a tune-up

It turns out that Leth Nimbletoes
has finally completed his reasearch into sunstone channels. Now a
skilled sunstone tuner can take a sunstone and upgrade it to either a
suncrystal or a sungem, for a small price.

Zorton is apparently the first Mystic to capitalize on the new
stones, and was seen in town upgrading sunstones for nearly 24 hours
straight! Zorton charges 300 coins to upgrade a fully tuned sunstone to
a suncrystal, and another 300 coins to upgrade to a sungem. Now, for
the first time ever, tuning sunstones may actually be a profitable
business!

Day 295, Year 549

Every four years, a magical portal appears in Puddleby which leads to strange and fantastic places. Where will this year’s portal lead?

Day 273, Year 549

My clan’s monthly meeting was held today beneath the trees of the Myrm
Highlands. At today’s meeting we had the pleasure of inducting two new
Hopefuls: Nip the Warrior and the talented bard Ly’fender. Just last
meeting Sasha and Midleaf joined us as Hopefuls as well.

Lyfe Joins Prentis
Our new Hopeful

It is very exciting to see the clan is expanding so quickly!
However, with the influx of so many new members, a few conflicts have
inevitably arisen. Luckily, ELF now has a new discussion board
to deal with such issues, as well as other, lighter matters. It has
been many, many years since ELF has last had a discussion board, so I
am very excited about this new forum!

Anyway, onto the hunting. After the meeting we decided to do a
quick hunt on Melabrion’s Isle as a “warm up” for our real hunt. This
proved to be quite disasterous. Before we could even get close to the
shore, we became plant food for a swarm of Giant Carnivorous Plankton.
Then, we were stoned to death by an entire extended family of
disgruntled Sasquatches. Needless to say, this changed our hunting
plans some. We decided to move our hunt to the Scaramis Pit.

Hunting in the Pit

Hunting in the Scaramis Pit proved to be much more successful
than hunting on MI. We managed to clear out several chambers of the Pit
fairly easily, and for a while it seemed that we might all make it out
of the Pit in one piece. Then Kor’gah and Xepel decided to jump into
the Queen’s Chamber. And fell.

What ensued was a massive rescue effort spanning several hours
and involving nearly 30 exiles. It took us a while, but in the end,we
were able to clear out the Queen’s Chamber and rescue the two
sillyvans. All’s well that ends well, I suppose.

Momentous Meeting

Day 245, Year 549
Meeting with Melabrion
A historic moment for Puddleby

*

Today the meeting with the ‘Brion Brothers was held as scheduled, and the much anticipated trade
was finally completed with the handing over of 6 teleportation stones.
More than 40 exiles came to witness and participate in this truly
historic event. Here is a summary of the key points:

* We have traded 6 teleportation stones for a permanent portal
to the Ethereal Plane, which the ‘Brions are currently constructing.
The portal will be anchored by kyuems on either side, and be housed in
a protective structure.

* Seven keys will be given to us which will allow access to the
portal. Who will be entrusted with these keys has yet to be decided.
Melabrion said that he will also consider building a backdoor, guarded
by Mud Golems, which will also allow access to the portal.

* The portal will be located on the island which the ‘Brions
are currently constructing. The isle is “nearly finished”, and will be
completed “within a few Zodiacs”.

* As part of the agreement, the ‘Brions will provide us with
trainers to instruct us in the constructing and dismantling of our own
portals. This training will be available to all mystics. Full knowledge
of the current ether trainers is most likely required.

* Also as part of the agreement, the ‘Brions will share
anything that they learn about the teleportation stones through their
studies. To quote Melabrion: “We will share what we find.”

* The portal will lead to the fourth sphere of the Ethereal Plane, a Sphere yet to be explored by any exiles.

For more details, read the full transcript of the meeting. If you have any questions, please feel free to post them in the comments.

ELF Hunt in Snaggy

Day 233, Year 549

My clan has been trying to organize a number of hunting events on days
other than our usual monthly meeting, so today a bunch of my clanmates
got together and went hunting in Snaggy. At first things went well
enough, but we got into a bit of trouble when we ran into a group of
unfriendly warlocks in the Bones snell of Snaggy.

Luckily, we were soon rescued by the fantastic chaining prowess
of Praetorius, with fighter backup from Gimli, Olmy, and Eyeball.
Another successful ELF hunt!
