Impromptu Concert

Day 29, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

The above sketch is that of a mini-concert held today by the bard
Coriakin, in town center. Coriakin is surely one of the more
industrious Bards, and his repertoire of songs is impressive. The
concert lasted for about an hour and a half, and ended in a trio put on
by Coriakin, Mervine, and Forey. It was one most beautiful things I’ve
ever heard. Their music is definately an inspiration for me to write
more music. The three are thinking about putting a band together, so
definately watch out for that.

Other than that, I didn’t do too much today. I did
get my cloak mended by the seamstress Karsun, who can mend clothing for
1/3rd of the cost that the folks in the Dye shop can! Simply amazing!
Also, with the recent apprearance of the ‘Zo Mar Solkin, I was inspired
to buy myself a pouch of kyten, which Mar said could be useful in
making potions. If the kyten really is useful for potions, I expect the
demand for it will drive the prices through the roof, so I am stocking
up on kyten now, while prices are low.

Alchemy Bowl

Day 25, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Today I was finally able to receive an Alchemy Bowl from the picky
potter, Worlin Klee. I won’t bore yi here with the details of the
process, but know that it involved a whole bunch of wandering, and
running from fearful monsters. With my new Alchemy Bowl, I was finally
able to enter Chymela’s Alchemy Lab. Inside, there were several
assistants ready to assist exiles in creating potions, as well as a
book that catalogues all the potions known to Chymela. So far there is
only one potion listed, but hopefully we will be able to discover more
in time. The usage of the Lab seems to be free of charge, so I guess
the “discount” I was supposed to receive is moot. Ah well. I left my
Alchemy Bowl with one of the assistants of the Lab, and now search the
lands for potion ingredients. Tell Chymela if yi discover any weird
substances; they just might have properties helpful to exiles.

Ocarina Completed!

Day 16, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Well, Hendrux has finally finished his work on my Ocarina, and it feels
great! I have to say that it is really fulfilling to receive an
instrument after almost six years of searching. I rushed outside as
soon as Hendrux handed me the instrument, and happily played my songs
on it. I have to admit though, that I haven’t been writing too many
songs lately. I guess I better get to work on a few more pieces, and
prepare for the next audtion.

Afterwards, I returned to town, and spoke with the
potter Worlin Klee, about getting an Alchemy Bowl, and she sent me on a
quest to find her some clay to make it with. It took many hours of
searching, and a few nudges from some friends, but I finally found the
source of the clay. I have to say though, that it wasn’t where I
expected it to be. Worlin Klee then sent me on a few more errands, but
she still didn’t seem ready to make me an Alchemy Bowl. Worlin sure is
one picky potter! One good thing did come about from all the running
around, though. As my clan mater Drue’Dreemi and I wandered the East
Forest, we ran into a multi-colored butterfly, who blew us some kisses.
Whee!

One more thing worth mentioning. After flying
around the lands causing havok, we two butterflies returned to town for
some rest. There, I encountered an exile selling a nice blue cloak for
100c, which I just had to purchase. The cloak bears startling
resemblance to the first cloak I ever had, when I came to the lands of
Puddleby. Now my cloak collection is up to three! 🙂

Day 13, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

H’loi all. I know it’s been quite some time since I last updated my
scrolls, but I seem to have misplaced my recent journal entries
somewhere among my bookshelves. However, they should be showing up in
the archives as soon as I can locate them. Anyway, the recent Chaos
Storm has brought with it an influx of new exiles, including the potter
Worlin Klee. Worlin Klee can make all manner of pottery with her
talented fingers, and she has even offered to make us exiles Alchemy
Bowls, so that we may finally use Chymela’s Alchemy Lab!

Now Chymela the alchemist has been with us for
many years now, and like many of our teachers, such as Horus and the
recent Dentir, she has a story of how she came to Puddleby. Not many
know of it, but I was present when she first came to Puddleby, and even
assisted her in getting to town. I dug through a bunch of my personal
journals, and came up with an entry dealing with my meeting with
Chymela. I now reprint that tale for yi here.

Day 119, Year 541 of the Ascendancy

Today, after almost nine and a half years of questing, I was finally
promoted to the status of full Mystic. I must say that I am quite
excited, and a bit overwhelmed. I’ve finally attained 1rst circle,
after all these years! Hopefully, I will be able to improve the Mystic
Guild and the Puddleby community with my new found abilities. F’nom
tan’ki to Aki, Sutai, Malkor, Leonin, and Valtrim who have helped me to
get a hang of my new job, and to all the countless exiles who have
helped to mold me into who I am today!

Mystic Pub Opens

Day 9, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Well, it seems that Stroctros and company were finally able to finish
gathering materials to complete Puddleby’s first Mystic Pub! Finally,
mystics have a place to meet and discuss secret matters, outside of the
Academy… or so I thought. Elated that the Pub was finally complete, I
walked through the door… and ran right into a Detached Spirit. I
quickly fled the Pub, then dispatched the Spirit using some fancy
maneuvering. Looks like Stroctors built our Pub on top of a graveyard.
To further my annoyment, the upper portions of the Pub are not
complete. Hopefully Stroctros will finish the rest of the Pub soon.

Day 1, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

The recent Chaos Storm has deffinately brought some odd characters to
the lands, and perhaps none are as odd or despicable as the pair that
suddenly appeared in the East Forest. I was first alerted to their
presence by the ‘Zo Mac-arena, who informed me that there was some
brutish exile cutting down trees in the East Forest. Now, I consider
the southern parts of the East Forest to be my home, and this was too
close to home for comfort. So, I followed Mac-arena’s guidance, as he
led me to the tree butcher.

As it turned out, the cutter of trees went by the
name “Potch Axer”. He was working for his “master”, who for some
unknown reason, needed a lot of wood. Spotting the wood about my
person, he had the nerve to ask me if he could have my log of wood,
while he happily inserted his axe into a sapling. At first, I felt
compelled to tell him where he could stick my wood, but after some
thought, I had a better idea. I made a deal with Potch, that if I gave
him my would, he would take me to his master. He agreed.

As it turned out, his “master”, of all people, was
a sylvan woodsman. Of course, yi could tell he was no true sylvan at
heart, for he lived within a wooden house, instead of the boughs of the
magnificent trees about him. This sylvan, one “Coleman”, was cutting
down the trees of the forest to create some blasted substance from the
logs, called “charcoal”. What in Purgatory is charcoal, yi ask? I know
not. I only know that the substance is used for heating, similar
perhaps to our tinder boxes. Except Coleman uses live trees. I gave a
few harsh words with this Coleman, and his henchman Potch, and quickly
left the dreaded clearing, which smelled of death. This Coleman had
better not move his operations any further south, or there will be the
Abyss to pay.

Underground Rescue

Day 314, Year 541 of the Ascendancy

I’ve been spending a lot of my time studying lately, so I haven’t been
able to get out and do much of anything. Today, however, I finally got
a brief respite from my studies, and found that I’d narrowly missed a
massive Darshak invasion. Seems this invasion involved multitudes of
Darshak, and several Darshak waships. The Darshak were eventually
fought off, and the warships were eventually sunk, just off the coast
of Umbrion’s Isle. The exiles, thinking it suspicious that the warships
appeared so close to Umbrion’s Isle, decided to investigate. Their
investigations found a huge horde of Darshak, massed outside of
Umbrion’s Castle. The exiles swiftly dispatched the Darshak, in order
to prevent any further invasions. It really isn’t surprising that
Umbrion would consult with the Darshak, since his brother Tenebrion
does so constantly. Also, the ship being constructed in Umbrion’s
shipyard shows some suspicious resemblance to a Darshak Warship.

Anyway, today I got to help out in several
rescues, including the rescue of Righ Badenoch, who was fallen in the
tunnels under Puddleby. The tunnels seem to be constantly expanding,
and there were several new passages that I’d not seen before. These
underground passages could one day extend to places all over the isle,
so I suggest yi donate materials to their building efforts. One bad
thing I encountered during the rescue of Righ, was that the northern
tunnels were infested by Neo’dews, and even a few Mil’dews. It is
appauling to find that the minions of Qual have such a long reach, as
to reside beneath our own beloved town. Hopefully, the ‘dews will not
be able to breed and multiply in the caverns, or we could have a real
fungus problem on our hands…

AnnGM Appearance

Day 265, Year 541 of the Ascendancy

Ann GM appeared today in the fairgrounds, and listened to the many
comments and questions of us exiles. Some of the topics covered today:
4th circle+ tests for fighters and healers, gems that imbue items with
abilities, the court system, and the current demo area, Agratis. (Read
the full edited transcript here.)
In other news, there seems to be a sudden wave of new exiles, who all
seem to hail from some sort of Dream World(Alchera, I think they call
it). It seems that their Dream World recently collapsed, so a few of
them were able to flee Puddleby. There seem to be more refugees
arriving daily, and I am sure everyone is overjoyed at the new influx
of exiles.

Day 261, Year 541 of the Ascendancy

Today was my clan’s Dun’ilsar against the Lords of Wamphyrii, and of
course I had the misfortune of arriving late. Agh. I was forced to wait
in the Purple Tor, while the rest of clan mates busily hunted critters
for their furs, trying to outdo LoW in the 2 hours and 15 minutes
alloted for the money hunt. Finally, the judge Sarmanikan announced
that the challenge was over, and the contestants from both clans
arrived in the Purple Tor. The money from the clans was totaled up by
Sarmanikan, and after a dramatic pause, he announced the winners of the
contest: The Lords of Wamphyrii. Double agh.

After the contest, LoW provided everyone with some
pretzels, and we all congradulated each other on the fine contest. Most
of the members from both clans had to head off, but a few of us
remained, and decided to hunt in the bear caves.
