Wrapped Fish Paramedic has released a special edition of the Fishwrap Magazine,
titled “Mystics: Behind the Sparkle”. This issue focuses on the the
recent events with Manticore, the proposed trade with the ‘Brions, and
mystics in general. The article contains three very well written
interviews with Callia(full mystic), Rincewind(journeying mystic), and
Aravir(former apprentice). I’d recommend reading it to anyone who wants
to learn what mystics are thinking about the current situation.

Day 311, Year 547

Census
For the past several days, I have noticed the presence of a strange
exile by the name of “Census”, who seems to pop in and out of the
library at all hours of the day, and wondered what he might be up to.
Today I finally caught a glimpse of this mysterious exile in town
center, speaking with the fighter K’pyn.

Census claims to be a public servant who is, as his name
suggests, taking a census of Puddleby. He pops out of the library
roughly every half an hour, and records information on all of the
exiles who are in the lands, taking down details about their race, sex,
profession, and clan. While this is a little disturbing, Census claimed
that he will share the results of his research with the public. If this
is true, it could offer us an interesting glimpse into the makeup of
the Puddleby community.

Day 306, Year 547

Today was my clan monthly meeting, but we had a very low attendance–
only three members showed up! It seems that a lot of people are having
trouble getting out of the library. If you are having problems coming
to grips with the latest Chaos Storm, visit http://www.windsofdawn.org/updates/. Kiriel has placed some files on the scroll that should help you out.

Thoomy Gamemaster
The other day AnnGM was in the Fairgrounds, and answered the many
questions that players had for her. I was not present at the meeting
myself, but Drablak was kind enough to send me a partial transcript. You can find a copy of the transcript here.
Some of the things that were discussed in the Fairgrounds: different
colored weapon icons, CL clients for other platforms, and a Clan Lord
screenshot contest.

Day 291, Year 547

The 254th Chaos Storm swept through the lands today, a few days later
than was expected. So far, I haven’t noticed anything new in the lands,
but Kiriel reports that the bridge that was being built on Kizmia’s Island is finally complete. You can read more about it on the Clanlords news forum.

Day 286, Year 547

Today a Dun’ilsar competition was held between E’las Loth’mon Ferindril and clan Dwarven Millitia.
The challenge was a rescue– one member from each clan would fall in
the Darshak Horde, and the rest of their clanmates had to race to their
rescue from the Meadow. The exiles who fell would then have to race to
the Meadow, with the first one back being declared the victor.

The turnout from both clans was about even, with 6 competitors
from clan ELF and 7 from DM. As it happened, I was chosen as the faller
for clan ELF, and DM chose the dwarven fighter Shard. Shard and I
headed to Ash Island together to fall in the Darshak Horde, and the
competition was begun.

In the Horde, I was a slight advantage because I managed to
fall a few spans north of Shard. However, ELF had some trouble
maneuvering in the Horde, and as a result, DM managed to get their
fallen up first. ELF managed to get me up soon afterward, but by then I
was 20 seconds behind Shard.

The two of us raced from Ash Island to our destination, the
Meadow, with the support of our clanmates who either helped heal us, or
tried to hinder the opposing team’s racer. I managed to close the gap
between myself in Shard(most likely because of my longer legs and my
training as a mystic), but failed to take the quickest route to the
Meadow from the East Forest, which cost us the race. Shard beat me to
the meadow by 7 whole seconds.

Afterwards, our two clans got together for a short celebration
in the Meadow and the Arena. Although ELF managed to lose this
Dun’ilsar, it was a lot of fun and an exciting race. Tav’riel

Day 277, Year 547

At today’s monthly ELF meeting, we
discussed many issues pertaining to our clan, including our upcomming
Dun’ilsar against clan Dwarven Militia. Dwarven Militia has challenged
my clan to a rescue in the Horde next Gradi, and we will have to defeat
them to defend our second-tier position in the Dun’ilsar competition.
Hopefully, we will be able to keep those dorfs in their places.

Another thing that we discussed was the moving of our clan’s scrolls to a new location: http://www.ferindril.org/.
What’s special about these new scrolls is that all clan members will be
able modify and work on them. Now we will finally be able to bring our
aging clan scrolls back up to date.

Finally, at the conclusion of the meeting, we inducted the sylvan fighter Marko as a hopeful to our clan. F’nom grudos Marko!

After the meeting, we decided to go hunting on Dal’Noth Isle
with the aid of the talented fighter Entil’Zha. We first attempted
hunting on the northern side of the isle, but quickly found it to be
too difficult for us. We encountered more than 18 Pallidews and a
Xar’Noth on just the entry snell alone, and we decided to try our luck
hunting on the south side of the isle.

Major Pallidew Spawn

The southern portions of the island seemed much tamer than the
north. We encountered a good number of Dal’Noths and Pallidews, but in
small enough groups so that our party could handle them. However, as we
traveled through the narrow passes of the isle, a major Pallidew and
Xar’Noth spawn left our entire party fallen, and we ended up having to
be rescued.

The hunt was still great fun though. Hopefully we’ll be better
prepared next time. F’nom tan’ki to all of our rescuers! Mil’asanti!

Day 273, Year 547

Lightning Kyuem
Today I participated in a joint clan hunt between E’las Loth’mon
Ferindril and clan Open Hands. The objective for the hunt was to storm
Tenebrion’s Tower, obtain a Mist Key, and take several mystics to the
2nd Ethereal Amulet trainer in Tenebrion’s basement. A total of 18
exiles showed up for the hunt, 11 from Open Hands, 5 from ELF, and 2
mystics who wished to further their Ethereal training.

However, we had a rather difficult time trying to take
Tenebrion’s Tower. Powerful undine such as Banshees, Wraiths, and
Skeletal Rages cut through our ranks like a hot knife through butter.
To make matters worse, any exiles that fell within the Tower were
immediately taken by Tenebrion’s slave Morty to the “Meat Locker” for
storage. In short, no sooner did our party enter the Tower, did Morty
have a fresh collection of “meat” in his storage room.

Luckily for us, a large number of exiles came to our rescue, and we were soon mounting another attack on Tenebrion’s Tower.

Hordes of Undine

However, even with the help of the newly arrived exiles, the undine
in the Tower gave us a difficult time, and we fell once more and ended
up in the Meat Locker again. This time, however, we had several healers
waiting for us in the Locker, and we were soon back on our feet and
ready for another round. We had to repeat this several times, but each
time we made a little more progress, and made it a little bit further
up the Tower.

Sarir Housekeeper
Finally, on the 9th attempt, we were able to secure the 6th and final
level of Tenebrion’s Tower. However, we noticed two very strange
things. First of all, Tenebrion, who usually resides on the 6th level
of the Tower, was not present, and a Sarir was watching over the room
in his stead, tossing fireballs and lightning at our party. Secondly,
we could not find the Keeper of the Key who also makes its residence on
the top level of the Tower, and holds the Mist Key needed to reach
Tenebrion’s basement.

This was certainly disapointing for our party, since we could
not accomplish our objective of getting the mystics to the Ether
trainers, but we didn’t let this dampen our spirits. We instead headed
to the Meat Locker, trapped Morty behind a wall of kudzu, and had some
chilled beer with pretzels. We called the hunt a success, for even
though we didn’t reach Tenebrion’s basement, we still managed to
accomplish our main objective– to have fun. I would definately enjoy
participating in another such joint-clan event in the future.

Day 270, Year 547

As I write this, it is a little past noon on the 90th Day of Summer,
and there is currently a FMOCR going on, with a large party in OC3,
attempting to get past the Orga in OC4. I have little doubts that the
party will be able to overcome the Orga, but there is some fear that
the raid may be sabotaged.

Delirium, who has publicly stated that she will do everything
in her power to stop FMOCRs, has managed to tag along with the party in
OC, and may disrupt the efforts of the Mystic getting the stone in the
Power Room. She may also have a number of supporters who may aid her in
disrupting the raid. I am currently waiting in the courtroom, ready to
sue the would-be saboteurs if necessary, to ensure that the raid
succeeds.

***

It seems that the FMOCR party is meeting greater resistance in OC4 than
expected, and is gathering reinforcements in OC1. Hopefully with their
aid, the party will be able to overcome the Orga.

***

It is now nearly 10pm at night, and the FMOCR has just ended a success,
with Robin Greyhawk obtaining the stone. Delirium did indeed try to
sabotage the raid as we feared, but the exiles present at the raid were
able to keep her out of the Power Room long enough for Robin to
succeed.

Hidden also took Delirium to trial(the transcript of which is available here),
accusing her of attmepting to sabotage an FMOCR. However, Delirium was
somehow found innocent by the jury, despite having admitted to the
charges. Apparently, in Puddleby it is not a crime for an exile to
sabotage an FMOCR(a dangerous prcedent set by Neige’s trial).

Regardless, the raid was a success, and we have now obtained 2
orga stones over the past 4 moons. We still have 9 months left to meet
the ‘Brions’ 13 month deadline, and I am confident that we will succeed
in completing the trade. Please come to the next FMOCR, and show your
support!

Day 265, Year 547

Wraiths on DI
Today I managed to fall to a tough little Fire Vermine while testing
the path into McBolie’s Cavern on Devil’s Isle. I was soon rescued by a
small party of exiles, and we ended up exploring the interior portions
of Devil’s Isle.

The first place that we decided to explore was the volcano area
of Devil’s Isle, with its infamous Drake Den. The Drake Den used to
contain dozens Fire Drakes, ranging from small infants to powerful
adults, but recently the Den has been completely empty.

Today we hoped to discover some Drakes in their lair, or at
least some clue as to where they have disapeared off to, but
unfortunately we could find nothing. I have now officially renamed the
cavern to the “Rat Den.”

Fallen Voolcon
We did notice something of interest, though. The entrance to the Rat
Den is surrounded by a pool lava, which exiles must run across to reach
the cave entrance. What we noticed were several Voolcons trying to walk
across the lava, but falling before they could make it to the cave.
Could it be that there is something of interest inside the cave, which
the Voolcons seek?

Afterwards, we peeked into the Voolcon Caverns to see if
anything was new, then headed to Dal’Noth Isle to explore the
Underground. The caverns beneath Dal’Noth Isle have been unusually active
lately, and today was no exception. We encountered a Tuz’Noth, four
Xar’Noths, and half a dozen Zol and Gar’Noths while exploring the
Underground today.

Xar'Noth Spawn

We mostly explored the south-eastern portion of the tunnels, searching for the secret passages that Qual once hinted at,
but we were unable to find anything. It has now been more than two
years since the defeat of Qual, and we have yet to discover anything
new. I wonder: was Qual lying, or are we just not searching in the
right places?
