Day 96, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Today I got to do a little more exploring in the Devilish Passes of
Devil’s Isle. However, since I couldn’t seem to get a party together, I
decided to explore the Passes with no healers. Instead, I called upon
the aid of my clan mate and good friend Drue’Dreemi, and together we
explored the Devilish Passes, armed with only a red healing potion. We
almost died at the entrance snell of the Passes, and Drue’Dreemi did
actually fall, but he was saved via the afore-mentioned potion.
Together, injured and bleeding, we fled to the north. There, we healed
up, and slowly explored the Devilish Passes, while I sketched out a
rough map of the place. We almost died several times, and we had to set
up Kudzu walls to heal up, but we managed to survive.

After some more exploring, we decided to get more
help. Drue and I had discovered a suspicious looking pool of lava
during our explorations, and we decided we needed a healer to explore
it further. This would lead to our eventual demise.

The brave souls that decided to join our party
were Alknelt, Quinix, and Lark. We met them at the entrance to the
McBolie Caverns, and together we made our way to the Devilish Passes.
We eventually made it to the pool of lava, and everyone agreed that it
looked suspicious. There was a dark spot under the rocks on the other
side of the lava, that could possibly lead to a cave of some sort. So,
we all said our prayers, and bid each other good luck, and made a run
for it. Drue was the first one to make it, and comfirmed that there was
indeed some sort of cave there. Drue’Dreemi fell to a Bolok, and Lark
followed. The rest of us attempted to as well, but we were felled by
the hot lava.

Lark and Drue’Dreemi fought valiantly in the cave
on the other side of the lava, but were eventually felled. The whole
party ended up departing. I later reviewed the Vision Stones that Lark
and Drue’Dreemi were able to make of the cave, and found that it led to
what I like to call the “Upside Down ‘T’ Cave”, which can be reached
through one of the Dark Caverns on snell D2 of Devil’s Isle. Anyway, we
all had to depart, but it sure was fun trying to run across molten
lava. My map of the Passes is really coming along, and I should have a
copy of it posted sometime this month, so stay tuned.

Day 95, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

I am finally happy with my training in dispelling illusions, and today
I decided to switch to another teacher. After much thought, I decided
upon the trainer Loovma Geer, who teaches exiles how to take better
care of their equipment. I made the decision because I now plan to make
use of chains in my rescues, and I don’t want to go broke fixing them.
So far I’ve purchased three chains, but I don’t plan on using them
until I’ve done some more training with Loovma.

Anyway, today I got to participate in a massive
rescue in the Greymyr Passes. There was an unusually high number of
Wendeka in the Mid and Southern Passes, and many exiles were falling
prey to them. A small army of about ten exiles was assembled, an
together we cleared out the Mid and South Passes of the massive hordes
of White and Night Wendekas. It was quite a rescue, and I even made a
few coins from all the nice wendy furs. Why there were so many wendies
in the passes during the day time, is anyone’s guess.

Day 91, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Heeding the advice of several helpful exiles, I revisited McBolie
Cavern today, and to my pleasant surprise, the exit path actually
opened. Entil’Zha, Frozen Shade, Tonle, Papa, and I got a chance to
explore the Crater of Devil’s Island. We explored the Devilish Passes
for a while, and they turned out to be much more massive than I once
thought they were. They definately need more exploring. I’ve started to
create a rough map of the first few snells, but mapping the place is
rather difficult.

Anyway, after a bit of exploring, we headed back
to the McBolie tunnels, so that Axell could join our party. However,
the vicious little Lava Walker appeared, and toasted our party. All of
my comrades were felled, and I was the only one left standing. I
frantically sunstoned for help, and after a bit, a large party arrived,
and “put out” the Lava Walker, so to speak. By then, everyone had to
leave though, so we called it a day. Now that I can open the paths
though, I can visit the passes any time that I want. All I need to do
is find exiles brave(or foolish) enough to come with me.

Day 89, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Today, a handful of exiles took it into their heads that they should
visit Kizmia’s Isle, but got massacred. Several rescue attempts were
made, but they too were massacred, and the whole fiasco ended up in a
lot of departs for all. However, I had nothing to do with that. I was
too busy participating in my clan’s Shardik’lun, or monthly clan hunt.
This month, we decided to hunt in the River Tunnel, and after some
sparse pickings, we decided to move our hunt to the Dark Chamber.

Day 87, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

As yi know, there has been some Drake activity associated with Devil’s
Island as of late, and today I decided to re-visit the Devilish Isle.
However, I first needed a pathfinder to open the extremely complex path
that is the entrance to the McBolie Cavern system. As it turned out
though, all the pfs were too busy helping out with the rescues on ‘Noth
and in the Arachnoid Caverns. So, I decided to take matters into my own
hands, and attempted to open the path myself. To my surprise, it
opened. I quickly called upon the aid of Tonle, Prue, and Damayanti,
and headed into the tunnels. However, fate seemed to be against me. The
rescue on ‘Noth was going horribly wrong, and I was called away several
times to let people in. We also got lost a few times in the tunnels,
even though I had a map before me. Finally though, we made it to the
exit path of the McBolie Caverns. The path would not open.

No matter the ammount of head banging on the part
of the two skilled pathfinders present(myself and Prue), the path would
not budge. We tried everything; begging, prayers, magic words, threats,
but to no avail. I even called upon all of my Mystic Powers, but the
path didn’t budge. Tonle played some invigorating music, but that only
caused an earthquake. Finally, we gave up, and I called upon the aid of
another pathfinder, Sagramor. However, as we awaited for the
pathfinder’s arrival, a Lava Walker paid us a visit. Tonle was able to
evade the potent being of fire, but the rest of us were burnt to a
crisp. Damayanti departed, but Prue and I were rescued and chained out
by Sagramor, and rescued from the brink of death by Koric. F’nom
f’nord. Somtimes life sucks.

Day 85, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Late in the evening, on the 85th day of Winter, was held Puddleby’s
first Open Mic Night in the Ballroom. There were all sorts of
entertaining acts put on by some of Puddleby’s finest performers. There
was of course music provided by our town’s fine bards, but it was quite
possibly the first time I’d heard a Drum trio performed. Other
memorable performances included a slew of bad jokes from Aldernon, the
epic one-man play “Johan vs Johan”, and Tyking II’s somewhat successful
sword juggling act. Tyking II also put on a rather funny AYB spoof, as
well as a comical Digimon impression(whatever those are). All in all,
it was a rather exciting evening, and I believe it would be fun if such
events were held more often.

(OOC: There will be another Open Mic Night held this Saturday the 9th, so please stop by and visit– and bring a costume!)

Day 76, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

* An ominous presence fills the sky.

Around midnight on the 61st day of Winter, a
strange presence was sensed by the mystics in the lands. Soon after, a
Fire Drake appeared in town, and began scorching exiles with it’s
powerful breath! Since most of the powerful exiles in the lands were
conducting a rescue in the newly discovered Valley, there were no
exiles in town that could stand up to the might of the Fire Drake.
After town was filled with smoldering corpses, the Fire Drake appeared
satisfied. However, what happened next surprised anyone. After toasting
everybody, the Fire Drake grabbed onto the still smoking corpses of
Mace Windu and Xaerus, and took flight!

Day 78, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

The Clouds of Ether have once again appeared on Puddleby. Around
midnight today, I stepped out of the library, and received an urgent
call from my Apprentice, Curiousity. He related to me that the Clouds
of Ether had been spotted again, this time in the Lily Pond. I rushed
to the Lily Pond, and sure enough, there were the familiar bubbles of
Ethreal mist, along with the Ethreal Portals they create. One thing
that was different with the Clouds that appeared this time though, was
that they had the ability to zap exiles with powerful lightning. I was
not able to stay for the entire battle against the Clouds, but my
colleague Zorton tells me that the Clouds were eventually defeated. One
thing to note that may be of importance, is that so far, the Clouds of
Ether have been appearing only close to midnight. This could prove to
be a clue as to the nature of the Clouds. We really need to re-visit
the Ethreal Plane, and find out what is going on.

Day 67, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Strange emanations in town, Puddleby under siege, and rifts in the very
fabric of space itself. Are these scenes taken from the next next
Ripture War? Nai, but this strange phenomena could prove equally as
deadly to Puddleby. As yi may know, the stability of Purgatory and the
Ethreal Plane have been declining steadily as of late, and this has in
turn been causing many strange phenomena to occur in Puddleby. Add to
this today, another odd manifestation of the Ethreal: the Cloud of
Ether. No one is exactly sure how this strange Cloud first appeared in
Puddleby, but in a matter of minutes, the Cloud had multiplied,
spawning multiple portals to the Ethreal, and held the town in thrall.

Day 63, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Still nothing new to report this Storm, but I read a rather interesting rumor on Koric’s Scrolls.
Koric wrote of several incidents involving Firedrakes, and of
particular interest was one case which involved a Firedrake who tried
to kidnap exiles, and take them to Devil’s Isle! This is certainly very
interesting news. I’ve also heard rumors that there is some sort of
Drake Den on Devil’s Island, which I’ve not had the chance to venture
into yet. It seems it is time that I must renew my explorations of the
mysterious isle once more.

Anyway, today I got the opportunity to hunt on
Dal’Noth for the first time in a long while. I’d heard that the ‘Noths
had grown more powerful since I’d last visited the isle, but I barely
noticed the change, with the party of powerful exiles present. We
pretty much circled the entire isle, and we dispatched many ‘Noths.
However, to my disapointment, we did not get to explore the underground
portions of the isle, for fear of Vel lightning. The hunt was pretty
successful, though, and we all made quite a few coppers. Perhaps next
time we will get a chance to explore the underground.
