Tricks & Treats
Posted on October 31, 2004 in UncategorizedThe Feast of Tsrinn is bad news. Every four years when the planets align, a great curse strikes Puddleby, turning its inhabitants into undine. The barrier between the planes is also weakened, and all manner of strange and dangerous creatures appear in town.
Sure, there are free costumes and candy available, but you hardly get to enjoy them when you’re shambling along, thinking about brains. As a general rule, I usually hide myself in the library whenever the Feast comes along, re-emerging only when the curse is past. This year, however, I actually decided to participate in the Feast, and ended up having lots of fun.
The day began with some trick-or-treating with Vagile. We spent about half an hour together searching around Puddleby for houses that were giving out candy this year, so that we could get this year’s special costume, a chubby old drake. However, try as we might, we could not get Persute to recognize our worthiness.
Afterwards, we returned to town to find Puddleby being invaded by Abyssal Hunters. Wave after wave of the powerful undine kept pouring forth, and each time our fighters cut one down, more appeared in its place. Town was quickly overwhelmed.
I tried to flee from the Hunters, and managed to fall inside of one of the buildings in East Town. Figuring that it would take a while before I could be rescued, I decided to take a quick nap.
When I awoke several hours later, the Abyssal Hunters were gone, and I was quickly rescued. I told Ezail about my trouble locating the candy givers, and she invited me to tag along with her and her son Kyrse’kah to go trick-or-treating. I happily agreed, and we collected a heap of candy, but still no dragon costume.
Soon afterwards, the curse began to take full effect, and fallen exiles began turning into undine and the Pumpkinheads around town began spriging to life. I managed to avoid most of the trouble though, instead trapping some of the animated Pumpkinheads inside a hut.
Once the situation in town began to calm down, I invited Ezail to help me make trophies out of the Pumpkinheads. We were also joined by the healer Tsune, and together we brought down the Pumpkinheads and chained them to the tanner. We also cut down several jack-o-lanterns to use as furniture.
Once we made trophies out of all the Pumpkinheads and jack-o-lanterns, we headed to Ezail’s house to store them. With all the pumpkins hung around the room, Ezail’s home looked like a miniature haunted house!
Once we get our clan house built, we can use the pumpkins as decorations during the holidays.
That was fun!
Great feast!
