ELF to the Rescue
Posted on January 25, 2004 in UncategorizedUsually when ELF goes hunting, we end up in some tight spot needing a rescue, but today the tables were turned a bit. It started with a clan hunt to Gungla Island, which is known for its diverse mix of critters.
We began on the southern shore, and worked our way clock-wise around the isle. We found plenty of good hunting– Meshras, Swamp Ferals, and a wide variety of snakes. We even had the fortune of encountering a rare Plesio’don, which we were able to bring down with some effort.
As we made our way ’round the west side of the isle, we learned of a party on GI in need of a rescue, and quickly headed that way, and soon had the party back on their feet. As it turned out, the party included the Mystic Leonin, and he claimed that he had just discovered a hidden illusion!
Leonin led us through the Marsh to where he had discovered the new illusion, and as we gazed upon the rocks, we could indeed see the warm glow of magic. Unfortunately, try as we might, we could not get through the illusion. I wonder if there is some way that we might scale the rocks, or if this is Colmert’s idea of joke?
Afterwards, we decided to go around to Melabrion’s passes, on Ezail’s suggestion, to look for some way around the river. However, no sooner had we arrived on the isle than we were asked to join a rescue party in Melabrion’s Mines. We happily agreed, and added our number to their rescue party.
Inside the Mines, we had no difficulty getting past the army of Tok’Hans and snakes. We were like a Large Sand Wurm that had discovered a rabble of roudy spriggins– we rolled right over them.
Once we got to the deeper caverns, however, a bit more strategy was in order. I decided to take a small party around to the south, so that we could create a diversion to lure the beasts away from the fallen exiles. This was greatly successful– we were able to create a small fort in the southwest corner of the cave, luring away most of the deadly cobras and adders.
Thanks in part to our success at luring, the rest of the party in the north end of the cavern was able to rescue the fallen exiles, and gradually peel-off the monsters that we had collected.
Finally, we succeeded in rescuing everyone from the deep caverns of Melabrion’s Mines, but our journey was not over yet. Getting out of the cavern, it turned out, was almost as difficult as getting in. Still, in the end we all managed to make it out of the mines, and return safely to town.
So, surprizingly enough, ELF ended up playing the part of the rescuers instead of the rescuees for once, and it was quite a bit of fun too. We could get used to this.
Yoy know… It’s kind of odd. I could hit that thing and can’t hit a feral for crap? It’s has to be a fluke! *laughs out loud* =D
