Day 107, Year 542 of the Ascendancy

Today there was a large number of mystics in town, and everyone knows
that with such a large concentration of mystical energy, something is
bound to happen. And it did. Some of us took it into our heads that we
should do something as a group, and show the world the power of
mystics. Soon the idea was catching on, and before yi knew it, the
first Mystic Raid was unleashed upon the isles. Our first casualty was
the north guard towers. Our force of six mystics sprung upon the guard
towers, and before yi could blink an eye, the guards towers were left
devoid of all rodent life. We then moved on to bigger and greater
things…

After we cleared out the north guard tower, our
party moved on to the west guards towers. We were greeted there by a
multitude of rats, scorpions, and vermine, but we defeated these with
ease. After defeating the hordes of rats, we decided to take on the rat
tunnel. This proved to be harder than we thought. Inside the rat tunnel
were no less than five skeletals, and soon several of our party members
lay fallen. However, they had managed to take a few of the skeletals
with them, and their fallen bodies acted as shields. Those of us
remaining rested up, and with a few powerful boosts, we were able to
defeat the skeletals.

After we defeated the fearsome skeletals, we
decided to call in a few healers. The healers arrived soon enough, and
those of us who had fallen were put back on their feet. We’d just won a
great victory, but we weren’t about to stop there. We mystics slipped
through a path in the eastern walls of the tunnel, and headed off into
the darkness of Puddleby’s underground.

Inside Puddleby’s undergound, we met many powerful
foes indeed. We encounted rats, vermine, arachnes, and skeletals
aplenty, and we even had to fight off the occaisional hooded corpse and
ona chigger as well. We even encountered some fungus in the dephths of
Puddleby’s underground. Perhaps one of our greatest challenges came
when we encountered a giant skeletal near the exit of the underground.
The skeletal gave us quite a challenge, what with it’s powerful arms
and long reach. We did manage to defeat the beast, but not before it
had taken out some of our members. We were pretty close to the exit
though, so we began to push our fallen comrades towards the ossuary of
the healer’s temple. The Mystic Sutai joined our party to lend us some
of his crazy Monk power.

A final challenge awaited us in the ossuary,
though. A single giant skeletal stood between us, and safety. What’s
more, this skeletal was even more powerful than the one we had
encountered before, and several of our party members were fallen. We
managed to push some of the fallen exiles near the skeletal to form a
make-shift wall, and proceeded to suround and pound the skeletal.
However, the skeletal proved to be even more powerful than we’d
thought, and proceeded to fell most of our number, and only I was left
standing after the brutal attack of the skeletal. However, I was soon
joined by the apprentice Forey, and with his wonderful atkus boosts, we
were able to injure the giant skeletal.

Things still looked pretty iffy though, as both
Forey and I were down to low health because of the skeletal. Several
healers came to the ossuary, drawn by the falling mystics, but we asked
them not to interfere with us. This skeletal was going to be taken down
by the Mystic Guild, and we didn’t need any outside help. The healers
were content to stand on the side and watch, and soon the apprentice
Wutold joined our party, and together with Forey and myself, we were
able to bring down the giant skeletal.

With the felling of the final boss, the healers
were allowed to heal us once more, and we had a small celebration in
the ossuary. The Mystic Guild had managed to the clear out both of the
north and west guard towers, the rat tunnel, and the entire Puddleby
underground! After some celebration and silliness though, we decided
that wasn’t enough. We debated on a new location to tackle, and it was
decided that we would clear out the well in the east farms. However,
this proved to be much more difficult than any of us had expected.

Inside the well were many dangerous creatues such
as adders and arachne, but most of all, what killed us were bats. Bats;
those tiny rodent creatures that fly around, and scratch at yi with
their talons. Even with numerous atkus boosts, we had difficulty
hitting the bats, but the bats had no such problems hitting us. Soon
enough, the bats were defeated, but once again mystic corpses lay all
about. We called for healers once more, and once we were all healed up,
we headed back in.

We managed to clear out the south-west corner of
the well, but a spawn of large arachne killed off much of our party,
and we decided to call it quits. The fallen exiles were pushed out, and
the healers were called to aid us one last time. Thus ended the first
ever Mystic Raid, conducted by Puddleby’s Mystic Guild. Through our
antics we managed to make Puddleby a little safer for exiles to live
in, and maybe even showed people the power of mystics. The moral of the
story:
