Dark Chamber Hunt

Today, a handful of exiles took it into their heads that they should
visit Kizmia’s Isle, but got massacred. Several rescue attempts were
made, but they too were massacred, and the whole fiasco ended up in a
lot of departs for all. However, I had nothing to do with that. I was
too busy participating in my clan’s Shardik’lun, or monthly clan hunt.
This month, we decided to hunt in the River Tunnel, and after some
sparse pickings, we decided to move our hunt to the Dark Chamber.
As stated before, today was my clan’s Shardik’lun.
However, before we could begin hunting, we needed some music to get us
pumped up. So, we all gathered around the bard Coriakin, and listened
to his startling rendition of Duck II. It is a most unique song, to say
the least. After the hilarious tune was finished, we all bid Coriakin
good day, and headed off on our hunt.
Our first stop on our hunting list was the Darshak
Horde, where the sylvan Indigo had fallen. We only had two fighters and
a healer with us(along with myself), but we decided to march into the
Horde anyway. It’s more heroic that way, and all that. Anyway, the
battle was long and grueling, and of course I was stricken down right
off the bat. However, Fleming and Frozen Shade managed to take a
corner, and with the healing prowess of Vequalir, the numbers of the
Darshak dwindled. Our clan mate Xepel joined in at the last minute, and
the fate of the Darshak was sealed. Indigo and I were raised, and we
moved on to the next item on our hunting agenda.
We’d all had enough of the Darshak, so we decided
to conduct our hunt in the River Tunnel. Our first stop was the Wurm
Cave, but it proved to be dreadfully low on critters, and was populated
only by a few Scavenger Wurms. We moved out hunt to Crawlers’ Revenge,
but again, there were few beasts to confront us. However, Tonle and
Anaeka joined our party, and we decided we had sufficient strength to
tackle the Dark Chamber. So, we paddled our way to Ash Island, and were
met there by two Gens Dea, and together we took on the Dark Chamber,
and it’s horde of undine.
At first, we seemed to be doing well enough, and
the number of undine dwindled. However, when a small group of Greater
Wraiths showed up, it left most of our party fallen. Those that were
able to flee tried to push their fallen comrades out, but that only
ended up adding to the body count. However, a small rescue party soon
arrived, and the tide was turned upon the undine. We established a
secure foothold on the west end of the tunnel, and proceeded to hunt
the undine from there.
With the aid of the powerhouse Zo, Natas, we were
able to hunt the undine with ease. Natas would lure the undine from the
chamber to the west, and we would surround and pound the undine until
they were naught but mush upon the floor. Gradually, we dispatched the
powerful undine, until there were only a few left. That is when we made
our fatal mistake, and decided to move our hunt to the chamber on the
left.
At first, everything went well enough, and we
cleared out the Dark Chamber. Natas lured some more undine from the
surrounding rooms, and we had plenty to hunt. However, a sudden spawn
of Death Furies caught us unawares, and felled the lot of us. The few
of us that managed to escape to the eastern hallway were met by an
assemblage of Greater Wraiths, and also slaughtered. However, as they
say, good triumphs over evil and all that, and soon, a rescue party was
formed, and we were all raised back upon our feet.
We hunted in the Dark Chamber for a few more
hours, and then decided to call it quits. Later, more exiles would go
back to the Dark Chamber, and fall there, but that’s another story. So
what did I learn from all that hunting? Hard to say. Just hunt near the
exit, so yi can run away when things look grim, and watch out for the
Death Furies. They bite.
