ELF Hunt in Savannah
Posted on April 13, 2001 in UncategorizedDay 224, Year 541 of the Ascendancy
Today I had the opportunity to hunt with my clan mates in the Savanah,
which ended up turning into a massacre. It all started when I met my
clan mates Tonle and Firebird in town, and we decided to hunt in the
Savanah. We headed into the Marsh, and promptly got lost(a good bunch
of pathfinders we are). However, with the guidance of the wise
Firebird, we eventually made it into the Savanah. However, we were soon
faced with another problem.
Our party of three managed to make it into the
Savanah, but we were soon forced with another dillema. There were no
cats around. We wandered about for several sne’lls of the Savanah, but
all we saw were an occaisional rat or vermine. Just then, we sensed
that Fleming was in the lands, and decided to invite him to join in on
our hunt. We decided to meet him in the Maha Den– bad move.
As it turned out, there were no Maha’s present in
the cave of it’s namesake. What were present though, were vermine, and
they attacked our party en masse. I was quickly felled, of
course, but Firebird managed to escape, and Tonle suddenly found
himself surrounded by thirty or so vermine. That was when Tonle threw
on his cloak, donned his leather bracers, and began chopping and
kicking at the vermine with surprising agility. Slowly, the ranks of
the vermine were depleted by the Zo’s powerful blows. As the number of
the vermine grew manageable, Firebird returned with Fleming, to help
out with the remaining pests. The hunters Rylanter, Thalion, and
GrayGradi arrived also, and finished off the vermine. Finally, when I
was back on my feet, we continued our hunt for Mahas.
Suddenly, our luck with the Mahas began to change.
Rylanter seemed to be a natural magnet for cats, and attracted many,
many Savanah Mahas for us to hunt. We skillfully dispatched the Mahas,
and skinned the animals for their valuable furs, then continued the
cycle anew on more Mahas. Inebriated by our newfound success, we
decided to move our hunt from the Savanah to the Southern Sand Dunes.
However, things began to fall apart as soon as we entered. Then the two
Large Sand Wurms arrived.
Most of our party was quickly felled, though a few
of us managed to escape. The few survivors made repeated attempts to
rescue us, but that ended up only adding to the number of corpses,
until only Fleming and Thalion were left standing. At this point, they
decided that they should call for help. And help did arrive, but they
too soon found themselves feeding the scavenger birds and rats.
Soon, more corpses littered the beach, and only
Veer and Fleming were left standing. However, as time passed, more and
more rescuers arrived, and the tide began to turn. The new batch of
rescuers carefully entered the Dunes, and began to push the fallens to
safety. Pretty soon, we were all resting on comfortable patches of
dirt, and receiving healing from the many present healers.
When all of us were, we returned to the Dunes with
our new army of exiles. The LSWs didn’t stand a chance. Pretty soon,
the entire Dunes area was cleared of critters, and we resumed our hunt
for Mahas. And thus ended our adventure in the Savanah.
