{"id":660,"date":"2001-07-23T17:09:01","date_gmt":"2001-07-24T00:09:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.puddleby.com\/lundar\/?p=660"},"modified":"2001-07-23T17:09:01","modified_gmt":"2001-07-24T00:09:01","slug":"rescued-by-the-magi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/puddleby.com\/lundar\/2001\/07\/rescued-by-the-magi\/","title":{"rendered":"Rescued by the Magi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><b><font>Day 278, Year 542 of the Ascendancy<\/font><\/b><font><\/font><\/p>\n<p align=\"center\">\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puddleby.com\/lundar-files\/img\/278-542.gif\" height=\"173\" width=\"251\"><\/p>\n<p>\n<font><br \/>\nToday the full moon hung high in the night sky, and a large party of<br \/>\nexiles led by the Mystic Zorton tackled the Orga Camps, in an attempt<br \/>\nto attain yet another Teleportation Stone. The orga provided a lot of<br \/>\nresistance, and many times the party was forced to retreat, and get<br \/>\nreinforcements. I however, had nothing to do with the raid. I was too<br \/>\nbusy exploring and mapping the McBolie Cavern.<\/font><\/p>\n<p>\n<font>The McBolie Cavern is in truth a system of<br \/>\ninterconected tunnels, that run underneath the lake of Devil&#8217;s Isle.<br \/>\nThe Cavern is filled with many twisty, maze-like passages, and there<br \/>\nare many advanced paths hidden amongst the tunnels. My theory is that<br \/>\none of the paths in the Cavern might lead to some yet to be discovered<br \/>\narea. So I set about the dangerous task of mapping the Cavern and<br \/>\ntesting the paths. I explored and mapped the tunnels alone, which made<br \/>\nmy work perilous because of the deadly rock formations, and violent<br \/>\ncreatures such as Deadly Adders and Pumaces. Yet, I managed to overcome<br \/>\nthese challenges, and discovered where many of the paths in the Cavern<br \/>\nled, though there were many paths I could not open. This went on for<br \/>\nquite some time, until I made a wrong turn in one of the tunnels, and<br \/>\nended up flat on my back. Now, the McBolie Cavern entrance is one of<br \/>\nthe hardest paths in the lands to open, so I knew I was in trouble.<br \/>\nThat&#8217;s when the Magi arrived.<\/font><\/p>\n<p>\n<font>The cloaked figure suddenly appeared out of<br \/>\nnowhere, just a few feet from my body, and nearly scaring the wits out<br \/>\nof me. The figure blinked out for a few seconds, then appeared again,<br \/>\nthen disapeared yet again. The figure seemed to be flickering in and<br \/>\nout of reality, before it finally materialized fully. The Magi stared<br \/>\nat me intently, and suddenly my body began to give off a faint glow.<br \/>\nThen, the Magi made a sudden sweep of his hands, and I was back on my<br \/>\nfeet again. The Magi was gone before I could even get out a few words<br \/>\nof thanks, leaving me to stare open mouthed at nothing. This Magi is<br \/>\ndefinately an enigma; only a few scattered sightings of him have been<br \/>\nreported, where he performed rescues similar to mine. Who this Magi is,<br \/>\nno one seems to know, though he certainly seems to be a benevolent<br \/>\nbeing. Perhaps he is a powerful healer, that has learned how to<br \/>\nteleport himself to those in need.
